Become a volunteer

An important part of My Refuge ministries is providing positive role models for the kids through our diverse group of volunteers. We would be remiss if we did not mention that My Refuge would not exist if not for our volunteers. Mature, Godly men and women, both retirees and those still working, college kids, high school kids, and other young adults, all give up their time to serve, to be the hands and feet of Jesus, and to show the love of Christ to our Refuge kids. These volunteers serve in so many capacities, from driving vans, singing and playing in our praise band, preparing and serving food, to leading small groups and serving on the board of directors and committee chairs. Refuge is run by volunteers, and every one of them is a servant, eager to meet the needs of our children and community. We are always looking for new volunteers to serve in all areas of our ministries.

Other Needs

One of our biggest needs at the moment is transportation. One of the largest reasons that Friday Night Refuge has been so successful is that we drive through the neighborhoods of Bartlesville’s West side, Oak Park, and Dewey to pick up the kids. However, our vans are showing their age by continually needing maintenance, and periodically breaking down. Plus, the limited amount of seating prevents us from picking up more kids and growing this ministry. We need reliable transportation, van drivers and funds to keep up with maintenance and put gas in the tanks.

Another need is feeding the kids each Friday evening. Currently we have several small groups that volunteer once a month or once every other month to provide a hot meal. These small groups include Bible study groups, Sunday school classes, youth groups, etc. If you are part of a small group (three or more) that could help prepare and/or serve a meal to 60 - 100 children, a few times a year, we would love to hear from you.
